The Jagannath Ratha Yatra (cart festival of Lord Jagannath) is a centuries-old festival attended by millions in Jagannath Puri, India. It celebrates the return of Krishna (Jagannath) along with His brother and sister (Balarama and Subhadra) to Vrindavan, the place of the pastimes of His youth. On this day, Their Lordships are seated on a beautiful cart, which is pulled by ropes by the devotees from Nilachala to Gundica. Festival includes preparing a beautiful cart, having Their Lordships reside on the cart, pulling of the cart with kirtans, various offerings are offered to Their Lordships and the whole pastime is depicted through dramas. Festival ends with a typical Jagannath Puri style prasadam.
